Our posting fell off last year as we were preparing for our wedding in November. All of the planning paid off and we had an amazing weekend! Here is a link for a short video from the wedding:
Back home at Farkel West, we kicked into high gear with the continued renovations.
Shortly after the wedding we tented the house and took care of the termite problem once and for all.

During that weekend, while we could not get into the house we decided to drive 4.5 hrs north to San Louis Obispo where we met and promptly adopted the new king of the house, Oberon (Obee for short). He returned to LA and Farkel West with us as a tiny bundle of puppy energy.

He has since grown and now runs the house.

We also started our trim work. We ordered and installed our base board and trim (most of it anyway, we still have a few pieces to finish)
We also completed the construction of our new entertainment center, complete with projector and full surround sound system, and also expanded the speakers into the back yard.

Our first Christmas season at the house was fun, with our first tree...well... a little to big for the front window at first, but then trimmed down to the perfect size.

During the winter, we also added the side gate.

And in the spring, the gate was stained to match the house trim, as were the garage doors.

Both the front yard and the back yard underwent major improvements. We built a raised bed garden in the back and planted our first vegitable garden.

It has done extremely well, and we have consequently learned how to can our tomato bounty!

We will soon be tearing out round one and starting our second planting.
The back yard was also spruced up with the arrival of our new outdoor sitting area and fire pit.

And the grill found a new home on a brick patio made with the leftover bricks from the front yard.

Speaking of which, the front walkway was finally completed after the exhaustive search for matching bricks. We found bolder bricks that were close to the color of what we had, but not a perfect match, so the process took a little bit longer because we pulled up and staggered the old and new bricks together.
After the walk was complete, Abbey got to work on planning the beautiful garden walkway. We dug out the sides of the walk and put in a soaker hose irrigation system, and fixed up all of the outdoor lighting.

Then the flowers were planted, and we have enjoyed watching the garden grow and flourish over the summer.

The time also finally arrived for us to say goodbye to the temporary kitchen counters and washroom sink. We ordered our new kitchen cabinets and the once cardboard kitchen is now a fully functioning realization of our original vision!

That's the quick summary, we have also done alot of painting and installed central AC and heating. Stay tuned for the next posting with a full kitchen timeline of photos!
